Hello Again,
I would like to explain the workings of the mind of the artist. I grew up without the Internet, cell phones or tablets. Now I have 3 accounts in the technical world, a Website, Instagram and a Twitter account. It has been quite a challenge. It is the way of the world and it will only get more technical. I have always embraced change, in fact I enjoy it. Doing the same thing over and over gets stagnant and dull. You have to go with the flow (as they say) or fall behind.
I bought my first computer in 2001 and proceeded to take a few courses. Although I am still not that savvy with all of the new technical challenges in creating my Website, Blog and On Line presence, I have come a long way.
As an artist, I have discussed with my other artist friends the different processes we go through to create art. We all seem to be fiddling, tweaking and working on some form of a creative venture. It doesn’t have to be in our medium. We investigate different areas altogether. It could be baking, jewelry making or painting furniture for that needy room.
As a teenager I remember my Aunt Peggy giving me an old hand wound watch that didn’t work. She didn’t have any daughters so when my sister and I visited her she would “clean out” her jewelry boxes giving us the items she no longer wanted to wear. So I proceeded to pull the watch apart to see the inner mechanism and the many parts needed to make a watch. It was fascinating to see all of those tiny little wheels and moving parts. Today you insert a battery not too complicated or beautiful.
Before one of my friends, Doreen, moved to Arizona, Sue, Doreen and I would meet for breakfast. We would talk about Art-what projects we were starting, new ideas for projects, new techniques and the materials and colors to be incorporated into our work. We were there to help each other to zero in on our next painting, photograph, book or collage. Gladly Sue is still around and we still meet for breakfast and discuss our ideas. Then we are off to the local art store in West Orange, NJ-Jerry’s Artist Outlet-for the best workshops. Companies who sell art supplies demonstrate their newest products and for 2-3 hours we are in total euphoria creating a new piece of art
Thank You!
Lucia
